Project Profile: Facility Update – From Out-dated to Safe, Productive and Bright

The Problem/Need:
A local customer had older fluorescent high bay lighting which was providing inadequate light levels for their everyday use. Not only does poor lighting lower productivity, it also potentially provides an unsafe environment for both employees and customers.
The Process:
The certified lighting team visited the facility to perform a lighting audit. A lighting audit allows the team to take an in-depth look at the existing lighting technology, any control equipment, energy bills, and assess for potential improvement. A lighting audit can also provide areas for energy efficiency and energy cost-saving opportunities.
The team gathers this information and data and inputs into software specific to lighting analysis/auditing purposes. A rendering of inside of the facility is created from there to accurately show the efficacy of new fixtures and what the facility would look like with recommended solutions.
The initial solution was presented, however, due to supply chain issues, came back with a long lead time. To stay on track with the customer’s time-frame requirements, the team aligned with another lighting supplier partner that fit the requirements of the project with available inventory. By partnering with recognizable lighting suppliers, our lighting and electrical products offering is broad and fits almost any budget and time constraint.
The Results:
Before:
Light levels were on average 14-18 fc with some areas as low as 12 fc.
After:
The updated light levers with new fixtures are now at 35-41 fc.
The customer is very satisfied with the final results. The upgraded lighting within the facility provides a more productive work environment and appears safe with more visibility and higher light lumen levels. This customer appreciated the team’s involvement and how expeditiously they were able to work. This customer is ready to update the office space next.
The Big Bonus
The Lighting Team takes this project one step further. The team uses their status as an MidAm program ally to submit a rebate for the customer, providing this customer the added bonus of potential rebate for the upgrade.

Rebates can sometimes cover a customer’s fixtures. Each utility company has different terms, program qualifications and incentive levels. The Lighting Experts help our customers everyday with this process.
For this project, the incentive is expected to cover 50% of the total project cost!
